How to get the most out of your speed test.
Limit other devices during the test
While running your speed test, check that no other people (or devices) are using the internet in your home or business, as internet usage can affect your speed results. This includes software updates.
Test at different times of the day
To make sure you’re getting the most accurate results, try testing your connection speeds at different points throughout the day. Internet Speeds can vary throughout the day and can vary based on the number of people on the network at any given time and what they are doing on it. Check with your ISP to see a list of peak and off-peak internet traffic hours.
Connect to the modem
If you’re using Wi-Fi, try connecting your device directly to the modem via an ethernet cable for more consistent and accurate speed results. If you need to use Wi-Fi you will achieve better results the closer you are to your modem for the best possible results.
